This November members of PlantWNY met at the Big Ditch Brewery for their annual Harvest Dinner. This event is an opportunity to recognize committee heads, present awards, and take the time to enjoy the company of industry professionals throughout the region.
A part of the celebration is an award ceremony that recognizes outdoor projects that were completed over the past year by area landscape companies. Applicants are asked to submit their projects to PlantWNY where they are presented before a judges panel. The panel reviews project plans, renderings, and photos of the completed project to determine winners of various categories.
This year T. O’Donnell Landscaping was given the honor of having their project awarded “Best in Show” by the PlantWNY judges. Lead designer Matt Hamann was at the event to receive the award on behalf of T. O’Donnell Landscaping, and to give a brief presentation on the project to those in attendance. The winning project featured elements from each of T. O’Donnell Landscaping’s services, including hardscaping, landscaping, outdoor lighting, and water features. A testament to their incredible team of designers and installers, this award recognizes the quality and excellence T. O’Donnell Landscaping brings to their customers.

As a company committed to providing quality work to our customers, we are always taking the necessary steps to ensure that our staff is made up of the most knowledgeable professionals in the field. At the end of March, four of our staff traveled to Webster, New York to attend a intensive 2-day certification program organized by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI). This group was made up of members from both our installation and design teams, ensuring that our hardscape projects are overseen by certified professionals from start to finish.
With the ever evolving world of computer technology, it seems like just about everyone is using smartphones and tablet computers as a part of their everyday lives. Admittedly, industries like landscaping, which are centered on manual labor, can be immune to the changing world of technology. Our tools of the trade (shovels, rakes, etc.) have remained relatively unaltered over the years and don’t show signs of becoming obsolete any time soon.
